Paragon prep and rebuilding

So given that someone with all myths and no primals is going paragon, what's the best way to go about it? The main issue is that jumping the gun early limits how quickly you can rebuild, which permanently puts you behind. I think this breaks down into a few questions.

How many gems are needed? Do you start earlier if you can't maintain top 25 or 50? And what methods rebuild best?

I was thinking 12k gems with 5 card gem draws as the bread and butter to build up, which makes luck crucial. But I figure this gives a 50/50 shot at a myth within a month. Then tickets, dungeon, bazaar, and gold draws for slowly building up dust between donations. With luck, aggressive selling of unwanted cards early on could help get early wins. Food would be spent on Explore level and Crusades whenever doable. I'd go for experience until getting the needed unlocks, then avoid it until Dungeon gets extra hard.
